WEST JERSEY -- Philip A. Schmidt, 40, of West Jersey, died at 5:01 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at Kewanee Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Princeville Baptist Church. The Rev. Ernest Schmidt, his brother, and the Rev. Tedd Butler will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in West Jersey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to an education fund for Andrew Schmidt in care of State Bank of Speer. DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home, Toulon, is in charge of arrangements.
Born May 17, 1962, in Peoria, the son of Ernest and Rosetta (McIntosh) Schmidt, he married Christine Knowles Sept. 5, 1981, in Toulon.
She survives, as do his mother, of West Jersey; a son, Andrew Schmidt, at home; two brothers, Ernest Schmidt of Ankeny, Iowa and Timothy Schmidt of Owatonna, Minn.; and his mother-in-law, Martha Knowles of Wyoming. His father and father-in-law preceded him in death.
He worked as the West Jersey Township road commissioner for many years. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of Hook and Bullet Conservation Club of Victoria.
